Take a moment to think– you’re on the fence when it comes to your needs and wants. After a long walk, you’re lost and as unimaginable as it is, you’re greatly unprepared. An overwhelming feeling of thirst overcomes you, yet at every stop, whilst one could satisfy your need on the face of it you still feel like you’re missing the want. Ultimately, the need is more important, but what if you wanted a balance of the two? That’s where two people who are important to BTTR’s story come in, my father and one of my friends, Sydney. In production of the company’s original prototype when I was just starting out, I went from store to store selling similar products to my own and testing what ingredients and recipes we needed to keep it organic, but also which flavors would be of a higher want compared to others. Taking notes and deciding on core smoothie flavors, my father and I created a small base list for our prototype menu.
When in school, I had been working on the commercial of my product for a communications badge. Keeping the practice from previous entrepreneurship quests, I asked around as a sort of interviewer, specifically I asked ideas from Sydney as to what flavor should be pictured in the commercial, as my goal was to win one of the best overall adverts votes for the communications badge, which also allowed you to present your advert at exhibition if you had won the vote.
Once we decided on a classic yet tropical inspired fruit smoothie to be in the final picture, I got a taste of what coordination I should take into account for meeting the demands of my actual customers; which drinks would do best? Out of the small sample menu, which drinks should we take to final production for all whom I sell to?
Something for me, as I’m writing this to think about and hopefully something you, the reader can think about as well.
