Making someone's day

I’ve written about this concept before, but imagine you’re lost and thirsty. No choices, unprepared and you’re unsure what to do. It’s that time of the year in between spring and summer and it sure is hot. Take Grace, an old classmate of mine. She is typically well prepared, but a similar scenario to the one provided played out for her one day. It was the day of shooting for my school project commercial and we took notice of her surprising condition.

In the midst of everyone’s handheld cameras and my friends roaming around the front yard setting up props and waiting for my direction, I thought what better chance I would get to help out an old friend of mine.

With one of our advert smoothies, it seemed likely that if I were to help her now, I’d use the first thing I had with me. I handed it to her as she wandered, looking around to see where she had ended up from the other side of the campus. As long as we had more drinks for our advert, I wouldn’t mind making the sacrifice.

Conveniently enough, my crew and I had prepared for this almost a little too well as our original commercial plan was to be about solving someone’s last minute need for a drink with something refreshing, sweet and enough of the two to put the recipient in a good mood. Grace walked out of our recording scene refreshed, especially not thirsty and with a spot in my prototype company’s test advert.
